My Real Estate Journey

One quick conversation with me is enough to know that I am passionate about real estate. I began my real estate journey in August last year at a student housing apartment complex, eventually advancing to the position of a residential leasing agent for a property management company. Before that, I was in college.

“I have always loved commercial and residential architecture,” I explain. “When I learned that college wasn't for me, I set my sights on becoming a real estate agent.”

From the very beginning of my career in the industry, I've strived to base my business on relationships, not transactions. My dreams and goals are simple: I feel the most rewarded when helping others achieve their dreams and goals. The Golden Rule plays a big part in my professional life. “For me, it's all about my client. Treat them exactly like you'd want to be treated and the rest will take care of itself.”

Work Ethic & Values

My strong work ethic was instilled in me from an early age. I have been working since I was 15 years old, when I was still in school and participating in sports, 4-H, and FFA. That work ethic and desire to be involved in the community has certainly carried over into my present-day life.

“I've never met a stranger,” I often say. “I enjoy being around people and getting to know them, oftentimes learning from their experiences by simply listening.”

Community Leadership

Lubbock Association of Realtors

I'm actively involved with the Lubbock Association of Realtors and serve on five committees:

  • Luncheon and Program Committee
  • TREPAC Committee
  • Finance Committee
  • Strategic Planning Committee
  • Installation Banquet Committee

Masonic Involvement

Outside of the LAR, I am a Master Mason, member of John Sayles Masonic Lodge #1408 A.F.A.M. in Abilene. I am also a member of Valley of Waco Scottish Rite-32nd degree Mason.

Family & Background

I come from a family of entrepreneurs and service professionals. My parents, Wesley and Mary Brooks, of Abilene, own Wes Brooks Insurance, where they both serve as licensed agents. The Brooks family tradition of helping others achieve their goals continues through my work in real estate.

My siblings have each found their own paths of service:

  • My older sister, Taylor, is a dental hygienist in Abilene
  • My fraternal twin brother, Chad, is a credit analyst at Lubbock's Western Bank
  • My other brother, James, proudly serves in the U.S. Army and is currently stationed at Fort Stewart in Georgia

Beyond Real Estate

When I'm not working or giving my time to the community, I'm just a 25-year-old single male, living the dream in the great city of Lubbock. In my free time, I enjoy bowling, billiards, skiing, and socializing. My roommate and companion is Winston, my 2-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever.

My Definition of Success

When asked to give my definition of success, I share a verse from the Bible, adding that I hope to be remembered for my humble Christian spirit and always putting others first.

“Success is a state of mind, and scripture from the Holy Bible says it best. Philippians 4:8 (NLT): 'And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.'”

“I am so thankful for my salvation, my family, friends, and the relationships I build with my clients. I'm also grateful for my country and owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women who've sacrificed and served in the past, and those who are currently serving today to preserve our freedoms.”
